My name is Dan. I am a reliability engineer. Reliability is when a piece of equipment can be trusted to fulfill its intended function. I study how reliability can be improved and I work with others to make their equipment and plants more reliable.
I am also a Christian. I have a living relationship with Jesus that began when I was 23 years old and continues. I understand this to be an eternal relationship initiated by God the Father and sustained through His Holy Spirit. While the relationship is based upon a faith manifested inside of me, my faith is simply a response to God’s work. It is God’s doing. Paul says this in Ephesians chapter 2.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
In light of eternity we are all on this earth for a relatively short time. I feel the brevity of that since I passed my 50th birthday a year back and realize the time I have left is probably less than the time I have used up. I feel it as I consider friends who have passed on into eternity already.
I want the remaining time I spend in this body to mean something. I want to be completely God’s man. I want to have a reliable faith. I want to live out a reliable faith.
This blog is to be a sharing of my faith walk. It is more a shared journal than anything else. Please feel free to comment. I would be happy to chat with anyone who posts back.
Hey Dan,
I’m thrilled to read that you’re doing well. I hope your family is doing great. How’s the new job going? I left resolute as planned at the end of April, enjoyed three months off with my family, and am now working for Exopack here in Spartanburg.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I wanted to let you know Tim Day is undergoing chemo treatments for his cancer (melanoma I think). His last day at work will be August 16th, then ST and LT disability will bridge him to retirement next year. I ask for your some of your eloquent prayers for Tim and his family at this time.
Thanks Prayer-man.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the note. I’m glad you have landed after your Resolute departure. I’m enjoying the new company a lot. It is a lot different being in a private, growing, profitable company. And almost all of the differences are better. As I said at the time I left, the hardest thing about leaving were the friends I left. Speaking of which I am saddened to hear about Tim. He had been diagnosed with Chronic Leukemia, so if it is melanoma then it is a different type of cancer. I will be lifting him up, but if you have contact info for him handy I would appreciate it. I had grand plans of transferring all my contact info when I switched jobs, but that didn’t quite happen like I had hoped.
Speaking of contact info you can reach me at 864-437-9417 or soccerdad9160@aol.com. Let’s catch up.
Hi Dan,
Nice to meet you. I’m kind of at the same place in my life. Pondering at 47, how this life seems so long and real, but in actuality it is absolutely nothing compared to eternal life and how did I squander so much time “not getting it”.
Can’t wait to read more of your blog.
Peace, Blessings & Joy!

Dan, thank you for talking to my wife and I at church today and praying with us. Awesome sauce! I pray that God continues to bless you as well.
Note: your WordPress needs the SEO and a few other tweaks configured to make it more visible on the net. Heads up.
